Drink/drug driving is the most stupid, insane and dangerous thing a driver can do. It's not careless, it's criminal. I've no idea why people do it, except that they are so brain-dead they think they'll get away with it. They are the vermin of the road, the lowest form of life.
I don't intend to go in to figures here, except to say that all the relevant information is on the gov.uk website (i). If you want to find out more, the visit Brake: the road safety charity (ii) and their drink driving information. We all know that people die because of the actions of these death-wish lunatics.
What would I do if I could? Have a zero limit for alcohol/illegal substances, lifetime driving bans, crush their vehicles, ten years minimum jail sentence. If the pub or club that fuelled the drink driver could be identified, shut them down.
The government should stop messing around and treat drink/drug driving with the seriousness it deserves. Protect drivers, pedestrians and other road users from this scourge. Today, before another death happens.
