What does the piano mean to us?

Having a piano in our lives has been fundamental to our identity and careers.  We have always had a piano, except for a small time, in the house.  When we play it, it's as if we become another person, taken away from the issues that ordinary life has.  We escape into a world of creativity, almost of a higher plane.  It's very hard to put into words what happens.  The action of putting fingers on the keyboard binds us to the instrument, which repays us by producing beautiful sounds and textures.  It's very emotional at times.

We became music teachers, playing the piano every day.  We also have a small studio, which allows us to compose and record.

Nothing can replace the feeling of peace and exploration that playing the piano brings.  If you've ever considered learning to play, the effort you put in is rewarded with a lifetime's joy.
