Blue Islands Airline: A Shocking Experience
Blue Islands were the airline that we travelled to Guernsey with in 2025. Our first trip was very good in terms of timings. We did have a surprise when we went to Guernsey via Jersey (which added an hour to the duration). In fact everyone else got off the aircraft at Jersey and a few then boarded.
The second Guernsey visit was terrible. The outbound flight was 2.5 hours late (no information at East Midlands Airport - they had a small information stand but no-one was manning it!). Worse was to come.
Our flight home was cancelled. When we got to Guernsey airport, the gate information was on the screens. We went to check in only to be told by the staff (a lady with no helpful information) that our flight had been cancelled for 'unscheduled maintenance' and that we could be booked onto a flight in two days. We had been left high and dry. That's it. The fact that my wife had heart failure (treated at Guernsey Princess Elizabeth Hospital) and needed to get home didn't matter.
Luckily, the Aurigny check in was close and we got a flight to Birmingham that day. We then had to get a taxi to East Midlands Airport to collect the car. Aurigny's staff were very helpful, arranging assistance at Birmingham for my wife.
Blue Islands were a terrible airline which I'm glad is now non-existent. About 100 people lost their jobs and I'm sorry about that, especially the customer facing staff, but as an organisation Blue Islands will not be missed.
